Webinar: Climate Priorities 2022
Looking forward, looking back.
Mark your calendars for our January 7th webinar, with an exciting preview of 2022 activity in Olympia, as well as an insider’s review of recent proceedings in Glasgow — featuring Washington State Senator Reuven Carlyle, Mary Grady, Executive Director of the American Carbon Registry, and Anna Lising, Senior Energy Policy Advisor at the Governor’s office.
This first year of “The Decisive Decade” in climate action saw our state take the lead in smart carbon policy, accelerating our economy toward a cleaner and more prosperous future. That included passage of Washington’s historic Climate Commitment Act (CCA) and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. Now in 2022, advocacy turns to action.
State Senator Reuven Carlyle, lead sponsor of the CCA and a participant of COP26 in Glasgow, is uniquely positioned to provide a perspective on what states are contributing to global efforts and will give us an early peek at the upcoming 2022 legislative session in Olympia.
Mary Grady — also a participant at COP26 in Glasgow — will report from her perspective as an accomplished leader in the development and management of carbon markets globally, at Winrock International, the International Emissions Trading Association, and the World Economic Forum’s Natural Climate Solutions Alliance.
Anna Lising attended COP26 alongside Governor Inslee and other members of his team. She will discuss Governor Inslee’s 2022 clean energy proposals, including improvements to the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council and its processes, and investments in industrial decarbonization through the Clean Energy Fund.
Attendance is expected to be at “standing Zoom only”, with so many interested in contributing to the future of climate policy. We hope you can join us and help build momentum as we move into the action phase of our legislative and rule making efforts — and look to inspire other states to follow our lead.
